Marine Professionals, Inc was founded in 1997. The business model for MPI back then was to provide full time captain/management services for a fraction of the cost of employing a full time captain. This plan has remained constant throughout the years… only today we do it better, more efficiently and with more satisfied customers. The team at MPI is dedicated and hardworking. A company is nothing without its team of key employees and MPI has a great team.
- Marc Curreri – President :
Marc was born and raised in the Northeast and grew up on and around boats. He built his first boat in high school, a 13ft wooden speed boat which he designed and put together on his own. He attended Wentworth Institute of Technology where he graduated Magna Cum Laud with a degree in Building Construction. During college, Marc spent his summers working as an assistant Harbormaster in Scituate, MA, where he was the youngest person ever to be hired in this position. His responsibilities included maintaining the vessel fleet, search and rescue operations, and training new assistants. To fulfill his dream of building a career working on boats, Marc decided to relocate to Fort Lauderdale, FL in 1994? There he continued his education and received a 100T Master near Coastal captain’s license with a towing endorsement. After a trans-Atlantic crossing and much experience earned, Marc looked for a way to take his passion to another level, thus MPI was born. MPI started as a project management company combining Marc’s skills in construction management with his passion for boating. MPI has since grown from being a sole proprietorship to one of the largest and well respected marine service companies in South Florida. Marc’s entrepreneurial skills started one of the leading marine security, monitoring, tracking and surveillance companies, Paradox Marine. Most recently, Marc ventured on to open a boat yard in his home town of Scituate, MA. When Marc is not in the office or on a boat he can be found enjoying his other hobbies which include flying and spending time with his family.
- Brian Curreri – Vice President :

Brian grew up on the waters of Massachusetts Bay where his summers were spent fishing off the family boat and visiting his father while stationed at the Scituate Coast Guard Station. His love of the water and boating was fostered during those early years and continued to grow while attending the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth. Brian obtained his 100 ton Master Near Coastal Merchant Mariner Captain’s license shortly after college. After delivering a yacht to Fort Lauderdale, FL with his cousin Marc, he decided to relocate to Florida. Brian partnered with Marc to help make MPI the leading marine service company is South Florida. Brian and Marc teamed up again in 2002 and founded an industry leading marine security, monitoring, tracking and surveillance company. Brian returned to Massachusetts in the summer of 2007 and established Scituate Boat Works. Scituate Boat Works is a state of the art, full service boatyard located on the south shore of Massachusetts and supports the entire MPI Northeast clientele’s service requests. Brian’s interests include golfing, fishing, lacrosse and spending time with his family.

During those years she gained both a love and respect for the ocean. She attended Florida Atlantic University where she studied Biological Science. She has always been interested in the amazing ecosystem of South Florida. Heather started working in the marine industry 8 years ago. In those years she has learned a lot about boats and continues to learn every day. Heather maintains the highest level of cleanliness and takes pride in knowing that we have the cleanest boats around. Her favorite part of working in the marine industry is being able to spend everyday enjoying paradise. MPI is proud to have her as part of our team.
- Nayara Gloria – Detailing Supervisor :
Nayara was born in Brazil and moved to the U.S. when she was 2 years old. Nayara started her boating experience at the age of 6 when her father bought a 32ft boat. Her job was washing the boat down after a day on the water. Nayara has studied abroad to improve her bilingual skills and is fluent in Portuguese. Nayara has worked with MPI since 2008.
Over the years she learned the demand of cleanliness that MPI expects and now leads the detailing team. All of our client’s boats are a reflection of MPI and Nayara keeps them looking like they should.
- Elvis – Mascot :
1998-2010
Elvis was a German Short-haired Pointer adopted from Abandoned Pet Rescue www.apr.rescuegroups.org in 1999. After a few short months of training he was put to work at MPI. Elvis was the MPI team mascot and the MPI “dog of the year” from 2000-2010. He was always the first dog to arrive to work in the morning and the last one to leave. You would often find Elvis in Marc’s office helping him with invoices (taking a snooze), in Dave’s office helping him order parts, (begging for food) or in the entry way greeting our clients.Elvis spent his winter months working out of the Ft. Lauderdale, FL office and traveled to Scituate, MA in the summer months to work out of our Boston, MA office. He went to work every day and never complained. Customers and vendors knew him by name and he was loved by all. Everyone knew Elvis.
In 2009 Elvis got sick, but because of his strong will to survive and nurturing from loved ones, he made an almost complete recovery. Even in his weaken state he continued his dedication and devotion to MPI and came to work. In July of 2010, sadly we lost Elvis. He will be long remembered and never forgotten as a friend, mascot and legend.
